Women Action Foundation Kenya (WAF-Kenya)

Closing the Opportunity gap for Women in Kenya

We reduce unpaid care burdens and unlock skills, financial, and market access for women in rural and low income communities —so families thrive, and local economies grow.

The invisible tax on human potential

Millions of women are time bankrupt, unskilled and unaccounted for in the economy .

70% of the agricultural and domestic labour is performed by women, yet they spend 5.3 hours daily on unpaid care work. The ultimate injustice? A woman can have the greatest business idea, but if she is anchored by fuel-wood trekking, passive childcare, and health-time shocks, her education or business cannot grow or thrive.

the sound solution

Women Action Foundation Kenya is making Care resilience the norm for women. We are building the social infrastructure that reclaims a woman's time to unlock their economic agency. We transform the double burden of unpaid care and domestic work into economic agency, equipping women with market-driven skills, childcare solutions, and financial agency to enable them build dignified, meaningful, and sustainable livelihoods.

Evidence confirms that unpaid care work is a hidden engine of the economy. Investing in Time wealth generates a permanent return on investment: Reclaiming stolen hours daily can save a family from a lifetime of poverty.
